About event

On November 19, a research seminar titled “Compaction Localization in Volcanic Rocks” will be held at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), presented by UFAZ alumnus Kamal Bayramov. The seminar will focus on the mechanical properties of volcanic rocks, changes in porosity and permeability, and how these processes affect underground fluid flow.

Kamal Bayramov studied at UFAZ from 2017 to 2021, completing his bachelor's degree, followed by a master's degree in Geosciences at the university. After completing an internship in Strasbourg, he earned a PhD in Geophysics, specialising in Rock Mechanics, from the University of Strasbourg (Unistra).

His research focuses on the mechanical behaviour of rocks under pressure, particularly their physical properties such as porosity and permeability. His work is relevant to several fields, including the oil and gas industry, geothermal energy, underground CO₂ storage, and the study of volcanic activity. Kamal Bayramov is the author of several scientific papers published in leading Q1-ranked international journals.

During the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to ask the speaker questions and exchange ideas on the topic. The participant who gives the best answer to a special question prepared by Kamal Bayramov will receive a gift. The event will continue with a networking session, providing participants with an opportunity to connect and share their experiences and ideas.

Everyone interested in attending the seminar is invited to register.
