A Marathon Dedicated to the 103rd Anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the 10th Anniversary of UFAZ was Held
On May 10, the UFAZ – 10 Years Marathon, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the 10th anniversary of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), was held.
The race was organized with the partnership of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the New Azerbaijan Party, the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, the Azerbaijan Savate Federation, the ASOIU Student Trade Union Committee, the Azerbaijan-France Alumni Association (AAAF), and the Seaside Boulevard Department, with sponsorship support from Azersun Holding.
Held in accordance with international sports standards, the marathon started from the Seven Beauties Musical Fountain Complex and continued towards the Baku Crystal Hall. A total of 192 participants competed in the 10-kilometer race. Registration was open to everyone, and participants competed in men’s, women’s, and student categories.
The main purpose of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, encourage physical activity, and strengthen communication, solidarity, and team spirit among students and sports enthusiasts. Organized on the occasion of UFAZ’s 10th anniversary, the marathon became a memorable event bringing together the university community, students, alumni, and partners.
In his speech, the Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Rufat Azizov, noted that over the past 10 years UFAZ has gained a special place within Azerbaijan’s higher education system and has become a successful example of an international education model. He emphasized that UFAZ, operating under ASOIU, makes a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists.
UFAZ Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, spoke about the achievements gained during UFAZ’s 10 years of activity, the accomplishments of students and alumni, as well as international partnership opportunities. He highlighted that the marathon was not only a sports competition, but also a symbolic event reflecting UFAZ’s 10-year journey of development.
According to the race results, Ali Rzazade won first place, Tural Huseynli second place, and Samir Huseynov third place in the men’s category. In the women’s category, Tatyana Aliyeva won first place, Yuliya Belkova second place, and Mahsa Palar third place. Among students, Ahsan Aliyev took first place, Kamal Rzayev second place, and Aykhan Agayev third place.
The winners were awarded by the organizers. The race attracted great interest from participants and guests.
