Children of Worley Employees Explored UFAZ Teaching Laboratories
On February 20, the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) hosted an engaging STEM Open Day for Worley employees and their children within its specialized teaching laboratories. This exclusive excursion welcomed 20 children aged 7 to 15, accompanied by 8 company employees, for a two-and-a-half-hour program designed to spark interest in technical fields and provide an authentic glimpse into a modern scientific laboratory environment.
The educational tour commenced in the microscopy room of the Earth Science laboratory, where the young visitors explored the intricate microscopic structures of various rock samples. The journey continued through the Analytical Chemistry laboratory, where participants gained insights into the composition of matter, followed by a visit to the Physics laboratory to observe the experimental foundations of physical processes. After delving into the complexities of the molecular world in the Organic Chemistry laboratory, the attendees concluded their visit at the Chemical Engineering laboratory to learn how theoretical scientific knowledge is translated into large-scale industrial applications.
In each laboratory, specialists greeted the children with age-appropriate demonstrations and addressed their questions. To mark the successful completion of this scientific journey, all participating children were presented with special certificates at the end of the event.
