Collaboration Opportunities between UFAZ and the Water and Amelioration Scientific Research Institute Discussed

A meeting was held between the management of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) and the representatives of the Water and Amelioration Scientific Research Institute. The discussion focused on cooperation opportunities regarding the Master’s program in Water Resources and Management and the training of young specialists in this field.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Institute Rashail Ismayilov, Head of the Doctoral Studies and Young Specialists’ Sector Gunay Dunyamalieva, as well as UFAZ representatives including Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, Secretary General Martin Godon, UFAZ Coordinator Professor Jean-Marc Planeix, Head of the Education Department Samra Shiriyeva, Program Coordinator for Geosciences Lucas Bofill, and Career Center Coordinator Ganira Nasibova.
During the discussions, the importance of the Master’s program in Water Resources and Management for Azerbaijan was highlighted. The Institute’s representatives emphasized the growing demand for highly qualified professionals in this field and expressed their readiness to support the further development of the program.
The two sides also discussed various opportunities to enhance students’ practical skills, such as laboratory and water treatment facility visits, monthly lectures, internship programs, and participation in the Water Technologies Hackathon.
The Institute’s representatives also proposed involving students from the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering programs in the Smart Water Management System project, in line with Azerbaijan’s National Water Strategy.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to define the framework for mutual cooperation, launch the first pilot projects, and prepare a roadmap for training activities.
