Final Semester Exams Replaced with Continuous Assessment System

For the first time in Azerbaijan, the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), operating under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ADNSU), has transitioned to a continuous assessment system. According to the new regulations implemented at UFAZ, final semester exams have been abolished, and assessments are now finalized through three different assignments or midterm exams by the end of December. As a result, students study and prepare for all subjects throughout the semester. This decision was approved during the meeting of the UFAZ Scientific Committee based on the recommendation of the Steering Committee.

It is worth noting that the continuous assessment system is applied in many leading universities worldwide. This system provides students with valuable skills for managing time in their future professional activities and acquiring capabilities such as multitasking.

It should be recalled that the academic calendar at UFAZ may vary each year in terms of the start and end dates of the academic year. The fall semester of the 2023/2024 academic year lasted from September 11 to December 29. The spring semester will continue from January 29 to May 27.

UFAZ, established in 2016, offers education in four specialties: Geophysical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Oil and Gas Engineering, and Computer Science. Graduates of UFAZ receive two diplomas (from the University of Strasbourg or Rennes 1 and ASOIU). Education in all specialties at UFAZ has been provided for 4 years.
