French-Azerbaijani University - UFAZ Alumni Laman Jalil's article (co-author) in frames of #NASA 2023 BIG (Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing) Idea Challenge "Lunar Forge: Producing Metal Products on the Moon" has been published by the AIAA - The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (#AIAA)!

In the paper, they discuss the design and manufacture of a molten #lunar #regolith electrolysis reactor capable of producing various alloys of steel and other metal products from lunar regolith, with oxygen as a useful byproduct. They also show the utility of the proposed technology to the lunar exploration goals of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and its international and commercial partners as the lunar economy expands.

Laman is actually master student in Chemical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her team from #MIT is one of 7 #finalists of the NASA BIG Idea Challenge 2023 - the final presentation and poster competition will happen in November of this year.
