Research Seminar on Cognitive Artificial Intelligence Held at UFAZ
On April 30, a research seminar titled “Beyond Attention: Engineering the Mind as a Complex System” was held at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), featuring Dr. Rabih Amhaz, an artificial intelligence researcher and strategist.
Dr. Amhaz, Associate Professor at the University of Strasbourg (Unistra) and the head of applied AI research at Icam Strasbourg-Europe, spoke about a new paradigm in the development of artificial intelligence during the seminar. He addressed the topic of modeling human cognition as a complex and dynamic system through multimodal deep learning. Dr. Amhaz stated that data alone is not sufficient for artificial intelligence to fully express human cognition; here, the integration of signals from perception, behavior, and the environment plays a key role.
In his presentation, Dr. Amhaz shared perspectives on adaptive systems, cognitive aware interfaces, and human-centered intelligent machines by bridging the gap between artificial intelligence and neuroscience. He also discussed his research on systems that analyze human behavior and facilitate decision-making processes based on computer vision, sensor data, and machine learning technologies.
The seminar concluded with interactive discussions on the application of artificial intelligence in industrial digital transformation, smart infrastructure monitoring, and innovation-oriented training programs.
