The 10th Anniversary of UFAZ

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Decree on the establishment of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ).

The foundation of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), an important project serving the development of higher education and scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and France, was laid by a Decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on June 9, 2016. Operating under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), UFAZ welcomed its first students in September of the same year, opening a new chapter in the country’s higher education system.

Since its establishment, UFAZ has served as an academic and cultural bridge between the two countries, introducing an international-standard education model to Azerbaijan. The university’s main mission is to contribute to the development of the country’s intellectual potential by educating highly qualified professionals and future scientists capable of addressing the challenges of the modern era.

Operating in partnership with leading French higher education institutions, UFAZ offers its students the opportunity to obtain two internationally recognized diplomas. Graduates receive degrees from both the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and its French partner universities (the University of Strasbourg / the University of Rennes), gaining a competitive advantage in the global labor market and academic environment.

Fully funded by the state and free of charge for students, UFAZ ensures access to high-quality international education for talented young people. Instruction in English, an international faculty, modern laboratories, research opportunities, and study and internship programs in France are among the university’s distinguishing features.

Over the past ten years, UFAZ has achieved significant success not only in education but also in scientific research. International conferences, scientific events, industry partnerships, and research published in highly ranked scientific journals demonstrate the university’s important role in the country’s innovation and scientific development ecosystem.

Today, UFAZ graduates successfully work in leading companies, research institutes, and universities in Azerbaijan and around the world. Many also continue their studies at the master’s and doctoral levels, pursuing academic careers.

With the international academic environment it has built over the last decade, its strong alumni network, vibrant student life, and scientific achievements, UFAZ has established a distinctive place in Azerbaijan’s higher education landscape. In the years ahead, the university will continue contributing to the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and France in the fields of science, education, and innovation, while educating a new generation of leaders and professionals.
