UFAZ Alumna Shabnam Feyziyeva Successfully Defends Her PhD Thesis

Shabnam Feyziyeva, a graduate of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), successfully defended her doctoral thesis in Chemical Sciences at the University of Strasbourg (Unistra) on September 30, earning her PhD degree.

Her thesis, entitled “Capture and Conversion of CO₂ Catalysed by Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Zeolites,” was conducted at the ICPEES laboratory of Unistra under the supervision of Dr Benoît Louis.

The research focuses on the use of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and zeolites for CO₂ capture and heterogeneous catalysis. It examines how factors such as pore accessibility, active-site properties, activation conditions, humidity and structural stability affect the performance of these materials.

Shabnam Feyziyeva’s doctoral studies were supported under the State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023. Implemented by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the programme was financed by the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ).
