UFAZ Faculty Member’s Research Paper Published in a Q1 Journal
A research paper by Narincj Tagiyeva, a Chemistry Teacher at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), who completed her doctoral studies under the joint Cotutelle doctoral programme of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and the University of Strasbourg (Unistra) and is currently preparing to defend her dissertation, has been published in the journal ACS Omega. The journal is ranked in the Q1 category and has an impact factor of 5.2.
The paper, entitled "Thermal-Oxidative Degradation Kinetics of Salen-Type Schiff Base-Functionalized Graphene Oxide and Its Reduced Analogue," investigates the behavior of Schiff base-functionalized graphene oxide and its reduced analogue under thermal and oxidative conditions. The study provides a comparative analysis of the materials' thermo-oxidative degradation kinetics, thermal stability, and activation parameters.
The findings demonstrate that the chemical functionalization of graphene oxide enhances its thermal stability, reduces moisture absorption, and improves its performance under high-temperature conditions. The authors also reveal that oxygen- and nitrogen-containing functional groups, as well as the degree of reduction, play a significant role in determining the thermo-oxidative properties of graphene-based materials. These results may contribute to the development of high-performance functional materials for a wide range of industrial applications.
