On October 24, Ismayil Safarli, a graduate of the Chemical Engineering bachelor’s program at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), successfully defended his PhD dissertation entitled “Morphological Control of Electrospun Reinforcements for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Membranes” within the framework of the State Program.

The research was carried out within the framework of a CIFRE industrial-academic collaboration between the Institute of Chemistry and Processes for Energy, Environment and Health (ICPEES) at the University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) and Michelin. This collaboration enabled Ismayil Safarli to gain both fundamental scientific knowledge and industry-oriented research experience.

During his doctoral studies, he acquired hands-on experience in electrospinning technology, solution casting, and mechanical characterization of polymers. In parallel, he further developed his Python programming skills as part of his research work. Portions of his research were presented at the HiFunMat summer schools and the Electrospin2024 international conference.

After completing his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at UFAZ, Ismayil Safarli continued his academic journey at the University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA), earning a Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, followed by a PhD in Physico-Chemistry of Materials. He also gained additional research experience through an internship at CNRS.

At the next stage of his career, Dr. Ismayil Safarli plans to pursue opportunities in industry-oriented research, development, and innovation.

We congratulate Dr. Ismayil Safarli on this outstanding academic achievement and wish him continued success and creativity in his future scientific endeavors.
