UFAZ Holds the Third Research Workshop of the Computer Science Research Group

workshop of cs 2026 1

On October 28, the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) held the third research workshop of its Computer Science Research Group. The workshop opened with a presentation by Professor Cecilia Zanni-Merk of INSA Rouen Normandie, who also heads the Computer Science Research Group at UFAZ. Her talk focused on academic and research ethics in the age of generative artificial intelligence (AI).

The presentation covered key issues such as authorship, source verification and maintaining integrity in the peer-review process. Professor Zanni-Merk emphasized that AI does not undermine academic integrity in itself, but calls for a more conscious and responsible approach to ethical principles.

The second part of the workshop featured Rauf Fatali, a PhD candidate in a joint doctoral programme with the University of Strasbourg (Unistra), who is preparing to defend his thesis. He presented his latest research, titled “Maintenance through Imaging in Artificial Intelligence for Safe Roads & Augmented Governance.” His presentation explored the use of AI and image processing technologies to improve road safety and governance.

The workshop concluded with a discussion on the possibility of launching a joint research project involving all members of the group. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen research collaboration and explore new opportunities for joint research.
