UFAZ Student Wins First Place at AIRO 2025 Robotics Competition

Fidan Allahverdiyeva, a second-year Computer Science undergraduate student at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), achieved first place at the AIRO 2025 Robotics Competition held at ADA University. This prestigious event brought together talented youth from across Azerbaijan to showcase their skills in robotics and engineering.
The competition, aimed at forming the strongest robotics and engineering team in Azerbaijan and preparing them for international-level challenges, was an exciting experience for Fidan. Alongside her teammate Jeyran Gaziyeva, she competed under the team name “Ad Astra” and secured the top prize in the Mega Sumo category. This victory earned them the honor of representing Azerbaijan at the All Japan Robo Sumo Tournament in Tokyo this December.
Team “Ad Astra” presented their project to a panel of esteemed judges from Romania – Adrian Ionut Gaspar and Raluca Samuilescu. After 150 participants demonstrated their skills across seven different categories, the judges conducted thorough evaluations and selected the winners.
The main goal of the tournament was to contribute to the development of robotics and engineering in Azerbaijan, foster international knowledge exchange, and select the strongest teams to represent the country in Japan. Participants who demonstrated innovation, dedication, and true sportsmanship played a key role in achieving this mission.
Such initiatives in the field of technology help uncover new talents in artificial intelligence and robotics, paving the way for their future international success. Supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ADA University, ASCO, AzeRobot Education, IRIA, SIMA, Baku Landscaping Service, Maestro School, and the All Japan Robot Sumo Tournament, the competition was an unforgettable experience for UFAZ student Fidan Allahverdiyeva.
We wish Fidan the best of luck in the international stage in Japan and hope she continues to stand out with her innovative ideas!
