UFAZ Students Participate in BCCA’s “Low Carbon from Day One” Interactive Session
On September 29, students from the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) participated in the first session of the “BCCA Interactive Executive Series: Low Carbon from Day One,” a new initiative launched by the Sustainability & Energy Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (BCCA).
Held at Hyatt Regency Baku and dedicated to Engineering, the session explored how engineering decisions made at the early stages of a project can influence carbon emissions throughout the project lifecycle, operational efficiency, and overall project costs.
The “Low Carbon from Day One” initiative brings together industry professionals to share practical experience and approaches to integrating low-carbon thinking into different stages of the project lifecycle.
As part of the session, UFAZ fourth-year Chemical Engineering students Gunay Ashrafova and Amirali Eyvazli had the opportunity to benefit from the experience of industry professionals, gain a deeper understanding of the connection between engineering decisions, sustainability and energy efficiency, and relate their academic knowledge to real-world industry practices.
The session featured Hugh Kelly, Country Director at Kent; Rashad Akbarzade, Business Development Leader for the CIS region at Aggreko; and Ian Orme, Oil & Gas Sales Manager for the UAE, Oman and Caspian at Aggreko.
