UFAZ Students Represented Azerbaijan with Excellence at the PetroBowl World Championship 2025
UFAZ students Zahra Rahimova, a Bachelor’s student in Oil and Gas Engineering, and Aytakin Kazimova, a Master’s student in Geosciences, proudly represented the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) within the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) team at the PetroBowl World Championship 2025 in Texas, USA. Together with their teammates, they reached the Quarterfinals, ranking among the Top 8 university teams worldwide. The championship gathered 32 regional champion teams selected from over 300 universities globally.
In the opening round, the ASOIU team defeated the Missouri University of Science and Technology (USA) with a close score of 50-45, and in the next round, they achieved an impressive victory against the University of the State of Santa Catarina (Brazil) with a score of 60-5. The team’s journey concluded in the Quarterfinals after a narrow loss by just one question to the defending world champion, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
The team was composed of Teymur Dadashov, Zahra Rahimova, Sanan Hasanli, Aytakin Kazimova, and Abulfaz Guliyev, all active members of the ASOIU SPE Student Chapter. During the championship, participants had the opportunity to meet professors from various universities and visit information stands about Master’s and PhD programs, gaining valuable insights and connections for their academic and professional growth.
This outstanding achievement highlights the leadership, teamwork, and global competitiveness of UFAZ and ASOIU students, showcasing the growing contribution of Azerbaijani youth to the international energy and engineering community.
