UFAZ Students Took Part in Fieldwork at Absheron National Park
Master’s students in Geosciences at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) took part in a field trip at Absheron National Park. The main goal of the field study was to gain a deeper understanding of subsurface structures and geological conditions using different geophysical approaches, while also strengthening students’ practical skills in data acquisition and interpretation.
During the fieldwork, the students applied several geophysical methods:
- The seismic method was used to study subsurface layering and wave velocities.
- Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) helped investigate variations in subsurface resistivity.
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was used to image shallow subsurface structures.
- Magnetometry allowed students to detect variations in the Earth’s magnetic field related to underground features.
The field trip was carried out under the guidance of Maksim Bano, Christian Camerlynck, and Zaur Bayramov, providing students with valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real field conditions.
