The “VHS_TECH” team consisting of students from the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) has won 3rd place at the Sustainable Urban Solutions Hackathon held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

Organized jointly by ASOIU’s Startup and TTO Department and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), the hackathon was dedicated to developing new solutions in the fields of sustainable urban development, smart city technologies, and ecological innovations. During the 48-hour hackathon, participants improved their projects with mentor support and developed them into prototype or MVP stages.

The “VHS_TECH” team, consisting of UFAZ Computer Science students Karam Imamali, Aykhan Mirzayev, Ramazan Huseynli, Davud Gurbanov, and Mahammad Mustafazada, presented an AI-powered project in the field of “Urban mobility and transportation integration.” The team developed a simulation tool capable of predicting the impact of creating new bus and bicycle lanes on traffic flow in advance. Using Graph Neural Networks technology, the project enables urban planners to make data-driven decisions for more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions.

At the end of the hackathon, teams presented their projects to the jury panel. The evaluation process considered criteria such as problem-solution fit, innovation, prototype quality, and presentation skills.

It should be noted that the Sustainable Urban Solutions Hackathon was organized to support innovative ideas of ASOIU and UFAZ students in the fields of smart city infrastructure, green logistics, and citizen-oriented digital services.
