Visit of UFAZ Students to the Facilities of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC

Students of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) participated in an infotour to the facilities of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC. The purpose of the visit was to enhance students' knowledge about the management of solid domestic waste and the recycling process.
With the initiative of UFAZ's Eco Club and Sustain Future Club, the tour began with a visit to the Balakhany Sorting Facility. Here, students observed the stages of waste separation and sorting firsthand. They received detailed information about the effective public waste sorting system and visited the plant's museum, which displays valuable items found among the waste over the years.
Next, the students headed to the Baku Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant, established in collaboration with Paprec Energy Azerbaijan. They were informed about the step-by-step incineration process and had the opportunity to observe the waste-to-energy procedures in action.
The tour continued with a visit to the Balakhany Industrial Park, where students explored the working principles, recycling processes, and production outputs of several factories. They were informed that 27 resident companies currently operate within the park, engaging in recycling-related production activities with the support of various incentives offered by “Tamiz Shahar” JSC.
During this part of the visit, students observed the operations in the Recycling, Packaging, and Cutting & Printing departments. They also received detailed information about the plastic molding processes at “Metak” LLC, where plastic waste is transformed into new products, as well as the operations of “Ekokat” LLC, where waste oils are processed under the “AzGreenOil” brand into usable and marketable products.
It was highlighted that products manufactured in the Balakhany Industrial Park are not only supplied to the local market but are also exported to foreign countries. This infotour provided students with valuable insights into the importance of proper waste management and introduced them to innovative practices in the field.
