Worley Representative Held an Info Session for UFAZ Students
On January 23, an info session was held at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) with the participation of Shaun Mills, Senior Vice President for the Lower Gulf and Central Asia at the international engineering and consulting company Worley. The session provided UFAZ students with valuable insights into career opportunities in the global energy and industrial sectors, leadership approaches, and professional development.
During the session, Shaun Mills shared his career journey based on more than 30 years of international industry experience. He spoke about starting his career as an electrical engineer in the petrochemical industry in South Africa, working on large EPC and EPCM projects, and gaining extensive experience in regional and leadership roles at Worley since joining the company in 2007.
The discussion also covered career development topics, including Gary Brunson’s six-stage career theory, the concept of a growth mindset, the inevitability of change, and the importance of adapting to change.
Talking about leadership, Shaun Mills emphasized that effective leadership is based on setting clear expectations, giving proper direction, maintaining open communication, being open to feedback, and creating a supportive work environment.
The importance of work-life balance, as well as developing business and financial skills for engineers, was also highlighted. The info session continued with students’ questions and interactive discussions.
