Research Groups

At the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), scientific research activities are conducted across three main focus areas: Chemistry, Polymer and Materials Sciences; Computer Science; and Earth Sciences and Environment. Each research group brings together scholars from Azerbaijani and French universities, offering innovative approaches to scientifically relevant challenges of global importance.

The Chemistry, Polymer and Materials Sciences research group carries out advanced projects in these fields. The team focuses on developing innovative processes for the design of new and improved materials with enhanced properties, thereby strengthening the scientific potential of Azerbaijani-French cooperation in this area.

The Computer Science research group is embodied in the activities of the AIDT Laboratory, where methodological innovations are combined with applications of high societal and industrial relevance. The research aims to advance fundamental methods in artificial intelligence and computational optimization, as well as to ensure their ethical, reliable, and socially beneficial application.

The Earth Sciences and Environment research group addresses globally significant topics such as the distribution of natural resources, the impacts of climate change, and natural hazards. Azerbaijan’s rich natural resources, coupled with limited water availability and the region’s seismic activity, make these studies particularly critical.

The research strategy of UFAZ aims not only to strengthen the University’s scientific environment but also to support the country’s economic and technological development while responding to regional and global scientific challenges.
