Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Pays Official Visit to UFAZ
On January 29, Her Excellency Ms. Sophie Lagoutte, Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, paid an official visit to the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ).
The visit began with a tour of UFAZ’s academic building and laboratories, where the Ambassador explored modern facilities and ongoing research projects. During a formal meeting with the university management, detailed information was shared about UFAZ’s role as a cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and France, its academic programs, student admissions, the development of new programs to meet current challenges, international collaboration, and research-focused activities.
Following the tour, the Ambassador met with faculty members and students. The program opened with an opening speech by UFAZ Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, followed by a speech from the Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Associate Professor Rufat Azizov. H.E. Ms. Lagoutte then delivered her speech, highlighting the importance of strong cultural ties, international cooperation, academic excellence, and innovative approaches.
One of the key moments of the event was the award ceremony recognizing undergraduate and graduate students with outstanding results in the Fall Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. H.E. Ms. Lagoutte personally presented certificates to the students and wished them continued success.
An interactive session, moderated by UFAZ Coordinator Professor Jean-Marc Planeix, followed. Faculty, students, and alumni actively participated, engaging directly with the Ambassador.
Following the session, members of the UFAZ Music Club performed Azerbaijani and French music and traditional dances, adding a vibrant touch to the event.
The visit ended with a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
