Students of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) successfully participated in the field camp held in Trollhättan, Sweden. Madina Jafarzada, a student of Oil and Gas Engineering, and Kamila Rahimova, a student of Geosciences and Geophysics Engineering, were selected for the program from among the members of the SEG Student Chapter at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

The field camp, organized by the Uppsala University SEG Student Chapter and supported by SEG, SGI, and FORMAS, brought together young geoscientists from various countries, including Sweden, Italy, Algeria, Morocco, Pakistan, and the USA. The program was led by Jolanta Putnaitė, Myrto Papadopoulou, Samuel Zappalà, and Emmanouil Konstantinidis.

Over the course of five intensive days, participants conducted extensive geophysical surveys along the Göta River near Trollhättan, an area known for its landslide scars. The team carried out three seismic profiles (P1-P3) totaling 600-800 meters, using 10-Hz vertical geophones, wireless recorders, and sledgehammer sources. The survey was complemented by ambient seismic noise recordings.

A unique feature of the camp was the use of a fiber-optic cable along P1 to test distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) for potential long-term monitoring, allowing comparisons with traditional geophones. Additionally, gravity and magnetic data were collected, and geotechnical core samples from SGI supported the calibration and interpretation of results.

To ensure accuracy, differential GPS positioning was applied throughout the fieldwork. Plans were also made for repeat surveys to track seasonal changes in the subsurface.

The camp combined practical fieldwork, data interpretation, and final presentations of findings, offering participants valuable experience in advanced geophysical methods. At the end of the program, all participants were awarded certificates of completion.

This unique international experience not only enhanced the scientific and professional skills of UFAZ students but also contributed to their integration into the global geoscience community.
