UFAZ Teacher Conducted Research Visit in Strasbourg
From 3 to 19 January, Arzu Aliyeva, Bachelor Program Coordinator in Geophysics at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), conducted a research visit to the laboratories of the Institut Terre et Environnement de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France.
During the visit, she carried out research on samples collected from mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan using advanced analytical methods. As part of the study, Arzu Aliyeva analyzed boron isotopes (B) using multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS). These analyses enabled the investigation of the origin and geochemical characteristics of fluids associated with mud volcanoes, as well as variations in eruption settings.
The main objective of the research was to gain a deeper understanding of the processes occurring in mud volcanoes and their dynamics. The results contribute to expanding scientific knowledge on mud volcano mechanisms, deep geological processes, and fluid migration pathways.
It is worth noting that Arzu Aliyeva is also a PhD student at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The results obtained during this research visit in Strasbourg constitute an important part of her doctoral studies.
