UFAZ Chess Club Participated in the “Zafar” Inter-University Tournament
On October 26, the Chess Club represented the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) at the “Zafar” chess tournament. The event brought together talented students from 14 universities across Azerbaijan, offering young chess enthusiasts an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their skills and competitive spirit. The tournament was jointly organized by AHIITA and the “Ganjlik” Public Association.
The UFAZ delegation consisted of 10 students – 5 girls and 5 boys, who competed in two separate leagues. The girls’ team performed successfully, securing an impressive 5th place, while the boys’ team achieved a respectable 10th place among strong competitors.
The girls’ team was represented by Kamila Rahimova, Darya Ostroumova, Aydan Mashadibayova, Roya Rustamova, and Ayenur Samedli. The boys’ team included Hamza Nuruzade, Rustam Karimli, Yaqub Ismayilli, Said Zeynalov, and Farhad Rahimzade – all of whom showed great teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. One of the most remarkable highlights of the event was Said Zeynalov’s outstanding performance, as he won all seven rounds in the boys’ league.
The “Zafar” chess tournament was not only a competition but also a celebration of friendship, concentration, and passion for this intellectual sport. We warmly congratulate the UFAZ students for representing our university and wish them continued success in their future achievements!
