UFAZ Students Achieved Success at the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad
On March 7-8, young technology enthusiasts demonstrated their skills at the national selection stage of the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad – Entrepreneurship Challenges, held at the Baku Sports Palace. The “Novum” team, representing the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), secured a podium finish in the SoftTech category, which focuses on software development and innovative solutions.
The team consisted of Teymur Alasgarov and Famil Gulmammadov, Computer Science students at UFAZ, and Nijat Khanjanli, a student from ASOIU. This collaboration showcased the students' high level of preparation in the practical application of modern software and machine learning technologies.
As part of the prestigious Italy-based Fibonacci International Olympiads (FIOs) network, the competition placed complex demands on the participants. The “Novum” team successfully presented their project to a professional jury in the initial stage, and later to potential investors and sponsors in the final phase, effectively demonstrating both its technical advantages and business potential.
UFAZ students Teymur Alasgarov, acting as the full-stack developer responsible for the overall software architecture, and Famil Gulmammadov, the machine learning engineer leading the AI and data analytics direction, ensured the team's technical excellence.
This success in the national qualifying round has earned the “Novum” team the right to represent Azerbaijan at the Eurasia Championship, to be held in Antalya, Turkey, this April. By succeeding in the regional round, the team will secure their spot in the World Final, which is set to be held in Rome in November 2026.
We congratulate the UFAZ students and wish them continued success throughout the competition.
