UFAZ’s Water Resources and Management Students Visited ASWRA
Master's students from the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) specializing in Water Resources and Management recently conducted a practical site visit to the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ASWRA).
Organized within the framework of a deep strategic partnership with ASWRA, the primary goal of the seminar was to ensure the seamless integration of theoretical knowledge with hands-on field experience. During the session, Dr. Elnur Nasirov, Head of the Water Quality Sector at ASWRA, delivered a comprehensive lecture on the management of water resources and the critical link between water quality and public health. The presentation provided an in-depth analysis of specific applied cases in Azerbaijan, including rising salinity levels, turbidity events, and potential microbial risks within rural water supply systems. This interactive lecture proved invaluable in expanding the students' understanding of local water challenges and their practical solutions.
Following the lecture, students visited the Agency’s Central Water Quality Laboratory. During the tour, they were introduced to state-of-the-art equipment used for assessing water quality and observed the methodologies behind standard analytical procedures. This two-hour practical session allowed students to adapt to a professional laboratory environment and gain a deeper technical understanding of the processes they will encounter in their future careers.
It is worth noting that five of the students currently enrolled in the Water Resources and Management Master’s program are already employees of ASWRA or its affiliated departments. In addition, ASWRA provides scholarships to all students enrolled in the Water Resources and Management program to support the development of specialized professionals in this field.
